The Jot’em Down Store – Pine Ridge

Chester Lauck and Norris Goff (who created and played the characters Lum & Abner) were originally from the area around a little town called Waters, Arkansas – and it inspired their fictional town of “Pine Ridge” where the exploits of their characters were based.  (The show was originally broadcast from KTHS here in Hot Springs.)   But in 1936 Waters officially changed it’s name to Pine Ridge – and it isn’t so fictional any more (as if it ever really was).

Here’s the famous “Jot’em Down Store” and Lum & Abner Museum as it stands today … and of course, it seems more appropriate in sepia :
