Flowers for the Caddo

Flowers for the Caddo

These Grape Hyacinths are growing next to the Caddo River in Norman, Arkansas – and also on  sacred Caddo Indian grounds.

I’d like to take a moment to thank Shirley Manning – who seems to have forgotten more about this area than anyone ever knew.  She has provided me with many names and histories for locations I’ve photographed around Norman, and you can learn a tremendous amount of fascinating information about the area from both her websites, and visiting the Old Norman High School – now a wonderful non-profit museum.  See the links below…

Hold up there, partner. Those are not Bluebonnets. Those are Grape Hyacinths. http://www.gardensablaze.com/Bulbs/BulbsGrapeHyacinth.htm These are Bluebonnets: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluebonnet

Both beautiful flowers and a terrific photo.

I stand corrected! – by both you and Shirley herself! Thanks for pointing that out … I try to find out what the various flora I photograph are – and I’m still learning.
