Pepsis & Prey

Pepsis & Prey

This is a Pepsis Wasp - aka: “Tarantula Hawk” – and it’s only prey : big spiders.  Click on either link if you want to know the grisly details as to why these two do battle (but remember: Nature can be kind of … sick).  You see lots of these things in Arkansas in the Summer, and while they’re very docile and hardly seem to notice people or animals, you still do not want to get stung by one. It’s supposed to be a 9-on-a-scale-of-1o on the painful stings meter – just one point below suicide-inducing.
