If you want to experience viewing pages and galleries full of images on the Internet (including my own Photo & Art Albums) in a completely cool "Infinite Interactive 3D Wall" like something from Minority Report - then you have GOT to download CoolIris - a free whiz-bang browser plug-in that will WOW you and everyone you show it to!
It's hard to describe the effect of viewing a page full of images with this amazing plug-in running, but you've seen effects like it on TV and in movies... A "Wall" full of thumbnail images that seem to tilt and rock as you pan up, down, left, right, and generally "zoom" to where you want to go ... then zoom-in on an individual image to have it fill the screen. It's almost like being a dragonfly swooping over a field of images until you decide to land on one - and then it fills the world. (Kinda daft, I know - but as close as I can come at the moment.)
As mentioned, this is a free plug-in for your fav browser: it works on the Windows and Mac versions of FireFox 2 & 3; both 32 and 64-bit versions of Linux when using FireFox 3; the Windows version of Internet Explorer; and Safari for Mac. You don't have to worry about getting the right one though - just visit http://www.cooliris.com/ and the browser you're using will be detected ... just click the Download Now link and you'll have it after it installs the plug-in and restarts your browser. (It's around 3 MB.) It's ready-to-go on lots of sites, including uTube and Google Image Search, and many others. The framework application I use for my Gallery has utilized the CoolIris slideshow for years, and now this plug-in has only gotten better! Big Caveat though: CoolIris seems very efficient at loading the images "as much as needed" as it goes, but I'm still going to have to recommend that you have a broadband Internet connection to really get the most enjoyment out of it. Also having a fast processor and a fast, up-to-date video card will get you the best results - but an older version is available for those with older or less-video-enabled computers. Doesn't hurt to try though, so first, get CoolIris and install it. You'll have to restart the browser before it will work - FF will offer to save your open tabs and restore them, which will bring you back here, if you'd like...
