I've decided to add a small Downloads section to this site, and I have a hand-full of files there... It's mostly little oddball utilities that I like to use and keep handy, but in many cases they have become obscure and hard-to-find on the 'net. For instance, there's the Adobe Gamma Windows Control Panel applet, and the Copy-To/Move-To hack for Windows XP and Vista. Also the famous Electric! screensaver - and now a cool Spirograph program!
Mosey over there now if you'd like - http://markcorder.com/home/my-downloads - or look for the My Downloads... link under the In Code section of the navigation menus. |

All of you who know me will be aware of the terrible problems I have had with my phone lines since time-out-of-mind. To make a long story short - AT&T either cannot or will not do what's necessary to repair these lines to any satisfaction, and it's not just for me or my area ... as far as I can tell, very few people in Hot Springs receive land-line service they're happy with. I have been in the middle of this problem for years and years, and I've been asking questions and keeping my eyes and ears open. I'd like to personally thank all of the AT&T technicians I spoke to - at least 30 of you have tolerated my flagging you down and quizzing you about all aspects of the system. Your answers were the only honest ones I ever received from AT&T, and they certainly opened my eyes as to where AT&T's interests and priorities lie. And I also appreciate all the time and effort you spent trying to make my lines usable ... rearranging deck chairs can still be a noble effort even if it is on the Titanic. |

Wunderground is best known for a long-running National/International Weather Site (enter your zip-code - get your local weather). It's one of the best for that, but for almost as long as they're been around, they've also been inviting folks to send in their photos of the "weather". They've got close to a million photos by now (including a few of mine) - and folks, I gotta tell ya ... ... some of the best photography I have ever seen is on this site - most of it taken by "amatures"! You're welcome to upload your own too - and maybe you'll make it into the "Approver's Choice" category (where all the best photos wind up!) This site is worth visiting at least once-a-day just to see what's new, though it update every few minutes. You can also get a special desktop screensaver that will download updated photos as it runs... Visit http://www.wunderground.com/wximage/viewimages.html |

Ahhh ... didn't I have a couple of blogs linked to this site? NOW what's happened? Fact is, I'm just whittling things down. I did have two blogs - both powered by the fantastic WordPress - that I used as examples of how you can hack that system in different ways. It was overkill, though... I write so much code for other projects that I don't find a lot of time for self-publishing - let alone having to keep two copies of WordPress updated. For as little as I publish, Joomla (the core system I use here) will work fine using it's various Category and Section Layout options. But of course I'm still a whiz at setting up, styling, hacking, and customizing WordPress - Contact me if that's what you need! |
