Fishing is a Rush

Yeah, these guys were actually fishing at the base of the Lake Nimrod Dam on the Fourche La Fave River in Arkansas – while the dam was running full-blast. They were catching them, too! If you look close, you can see the man standing on the left has a fish in his hand. They were throwing the ones they wanted to keep in that green bucket at the base of the wall – note the stepstool they brought to get up there.

Old Forester – New Year

Old Forester - New Year

I first visited “Old Forester” on one of the last days of 2013 – and here it is on New Year’s Day of 2017. This is the remains of an old sawmill that was the focus of the long-gone town of Forester, Arkansas. It’s one of those weird places that I feel compelled to return to from time to time, and you can read more about it in my original post or by using the Forester tag.

Once a year or so I head up towards West Memphis to visit some folks, and always try to stop by the Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge just north of there. (I don’t always get to – it’s sometimes closed due to flooding.) I have a photo of it in Winter that you can see in this post – and the top photo above is the same location seen in Spring, plus an extra shot that I liked. (Forgive the blown-out clouds – it was a bright afternoon and I exposed for the shadows…)
