I have completely lost track of how many different websites and various "homepages" I've had over the years... As I recall, the first one was back in 1997 or so and was hosted on Geocities. Man, a lot has changed since then ... The simple HTML pages I created then compared to the dynamic sites I create now is like comparing riding a bicycle to flying a jet - and the sites themselves likewise reflect an evolution from pedal-power to PHP. ![]() Currently I'm using the Joomla 1.5 Content Management System. A Content Management System (CMS) should be fairly self-explanatory ... it's a way to manage content. (You can read the Wikipedia article about them if you'd like.) I'm happy with Joomla because it's very open-ended and flexible in both it's use and the way you can style it ... once you get the hang of it, that is. But as an Open Source project it has one of the largest support communities out there, and lots of add-ons and integrations have been developed for it to date. It's this flexiblity of styling that's a real bonus on the graphics-design end - it allows for almost endless arrangements of layout and content through the use of templates, and I enjoy designing and building these templates from scratch. Joomla (and CMS's in general) make excellent Community Portals - so if you or your business, club or organization need an "online clubhouse", I can build and design a custom one just for you. I also do template-design only for Joomla and many other web applications. Find out more about my professional services under the Custom Web Applications section... |
