Wapanocca Winter 2014

Wappanoca Winter 2014

The Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge near Turrell, Arkansas is an expanse of woods and swampland with a 600-acre lake that provides a migratory stop-over for egrets, blue herons, bald eagles and more. This former bend of the Mississippi River is now located 3-miles east of it, and about 10-miles north of West Memphis. There’s no camping/swimming – but it’s a great place for wildlife observation, fishing, hunting, canoeing, and photography. The refuge visitor center is located at 178 Hammond Avenue in Turrell.
