When it came to adding materials and the finishing touches on a tutorial for this setup from PIXXO 3D, I guess you could say I was inspired by local events…
I live in Hot Springs, Arkansas, which is within the path of totality for the April 8th, 2024 Solar Eclipse. And since Hot Springs is a resort town that can have fairly nice weather in early April (though it’s always a toss-up), an astronomical amount of people are expected to descend on the area for the event. Needless to say, there has been quite a flap over it.
I used an HDRI from Polyhaven for lighting/background, and I like that the globe on the desk seems to get “flapped” as well when the camera swings around – the final animation is below.
