To Boldly Revisit

There’s at least two different layers of round-about history going on here…

First, I built a plastic model of the original Starship Enterprise sometime in the early 70’s (I was around 10 years old).

Later, I grabbed a B&W photo of a different model – knocked the background out – and “photobashed” it into the 1998 creation you’ll see included here, probably using the old PaintShop Pro. I still have this file 26 years later, and it’s only 800×600 because that was my maximum resolution back then!

Now jump to 2024, and I’ve once again decided to build a model of the old Enterprise – but this time as a digital 3D model. (No messy glue!) And while I was at it, I thought I’d try using my own, new model to recreate that old 1998 image. The result is above (sans the stupid lens flare … it’s supposed to look like a painting. What’s a lens flare doing in a painting?)

Below is another – probably better – take on the same model. Made using Blender (thanks to the tutorial from The Captain’s ImaginaShip), post-processing done in Krita.
